Mohamed Salah handed six-month driving ban and £660 fine over speeding offence

Mohamed Salah has been banned from driving for six months and fined £660 after failing to identify who was driving his car when it was caught speeding in Britain.

The Trabzonspor player and Egypt captain was prosecuted after his electric Rolls-Royce Spectre, reportedly worth about £400,000, was recorded by a mobile camera in Wilmslow, Cheshire, in March.

The incident took place two days after Salah announced that he would leave Liverpool at the end of last season.

According to The Sun, Salah did not tell police who was driving the vehicle when the speeding offence was recorded. He also failed to respond to two court summonses sent to his home.

He was convicted in his absence at Warrington Magistrates’ Court in Cheshire last month under the Single Justice Procedure, having failed to provide information about the driver.

The original charge of exceeding the 30mph speed limit was withdrawn. Salah was instead given a six-month driving disqualification and ordered to pay a £660 fine.

The court also imposed £120 in legal costs and a further £264 surcharge.

It is not the first time Salah has faced a motoring offence in Britain. In 2022, he was recorded driving his Ferrari F8 Tributo at 63mph in an area where the limit was 50mph.

He was fined £200 and received three penalty points on that occasion.

Salah now plays for Turkish club Trabzonspor following his departure from Liverpool.

Salah has also made club history by becoming the first Trabzonspor player to score a hat-trick against Galatasaray at Papara Park.

He scored three times and created another goal as Trabzonspor beat Galatasaray 4-0 in the sixth round of the Turkish league season, contributing to every goal his side scored.

The performance moved Salah to the top of the Turkish league scoring charts with seven goals.

He is one goal ahead of Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen, who has scored six times.
