Mohamed Salah ‘felt like my son’ during Trabzonspor promotional video, says Khadija Akbash

Khadija Akbash, the woman who appeared alongside Mohamed Salah in a promotional video for Trabzonspor, says she felt as though the Egypt captain was her son during filming.

“I felt that Mohamed Salah was my son during the filming,” Akbash said in a filmed interview.

She added: “We fed him honey, cream and Turkish food, and he was extremely happy.”

“His face was always covered with a smile during the filming, and I hope Trabzonspor become champions,” she said.

Salah features in the promotional video released by Trabzonspor after completing his move to the Turkish club.

The film was made in the Turkish countryside and shows Salah in a family setting at a home, where a group of men and women host him for a meal. Akbash was among those who appeared in the footage.

The former Liverpool forward is expected to make his first official appearance for Trabzonspor within days, as the Turkish league season gets under way.

Salah joined Trabzonspor on a two-year contract as a free agent after terminating his agreement with Liverpool. He did not feature in Trabzonspor’s squad for Saturday’s friendly against Goztepe at his own request, with the match taking place only a few days after he joined the club.

The Egypt captain is now preparing for the start of the Turkish league campaign.

Trabzonspor will begin their league schedule away to Kasımpasa, with the match being played at Kasımpasa’s stadium at 19:00 local time on Saturday. The game will be broadcast on beIN SPORTS 2.

beIN SPORTS confirms Salah coverage

beIN SPORTS has confirmed that it will show the most important matches involving Salah and Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig through its channels.

The broadcaster holds the rights to the Turkish league in the Middle East. However, it has previously shown only one or two matches from each round, rather than broadcasting every game as it does with the major European leagues.

In a statement, beIN SPORTS said: “beIN intends to broadcast Mohamed Salah’s most important matches with Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig live and exclusively across its network of channels, as well as on its leading digital platform TOD by beIN, starting from the 15th of this month.”

Trabzonspor have announced that Salah will receive an annual salary of 10m euros, along with a 7m-euro signing-on bonus. That gives him guaranteed financial terms worth 17m euros in total.

His contract also includes performance-related financial incentives for the duration of the agreement.

The Turkish club said Salah will additionally receive 20% of the revenue from official merchandise released in his name. The contract details also state that his agent will receive a 5% commission.

Salah spent nine seasons with Liverpool before moving to Trabzonspor. He made 315 appearances for the Reds, scoring 257 goals and providing 120 assists.
