Mohamed Salah eyes historic milestones following Liverpool contract renewal

Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah’s contract extension at Liverpool sets the stage for the Egyptian forward to target a series of historic goalscoring records in both club and Premier League history.

With 243 goals in 394 appearances for the Reds, the 32-year-old has firmly cemented himself among Liverpool’s greatest-ever scorers.

He is currently third on the club’s all-time goalscoring chart, trailing only legends Ian Rush, who netted 346 times, and Roger Hunt, who scored 285 goals.

Salah’s recent deal, which keeps him at Anfield beyond the current season, gives him a fresh opportunity to chase down those long-standing records.

Already Liverpool’s leading scorer in the Premier League era, Salah surpassed Robbie Fowler’s record of 128 top-flight goals for the club and now stands at 182 league goals in a Liverpool shirt.

Including his brief spell at Chelsea, his Premier League tally rises to 184, placing him firmly in the conversation among the competition’s greatest-ever forwards.

Alan Shearer’s iconic record of 260 Premier League goals remains the ultimate target for any striker in England’s top division.

While Salah still has a significant gap to close, his consistent scoring record makes such a feat a realistic long-term goal—particularly if he sees out his current deal and possibly adds further years to his Liverpool career.

Since arriving at Anfield in 2017, Salah has enjoyed a prolific spell, winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, and several individual accolades.

This season alone, he has broken multiple milestones, further reinforcing his reputation as one of the Premier League’s most lethal and consistent attackers.

Despite dealing with injuries and fixture congestion in recent campaigns, Salah has shown remarkable durability and commitment.

His goal contributions have remained critical to Liverpool’s domestic and European ambitions, and his presence in the squad continues to provide both experience and elite-level quality.

Liverpool’s decision to renew Salah’s contract was not only a nod to his past contributions but a strategic move to ensure he remains central to the club’s forward line under the next managerial chapter.

With this extension, the Reds have retained a player capable of defining games and chasing down club legends on the all-time charts.

If Salah can maintain his current scoring pace and fitness levels, Ian Rush’s record may not be out of reach.

Reaching that milestone would require Salah to add over 100 goals to his current tally—an ambitious target, but one that aligns with his relentless pursuit of excellence since arriving on Merseyside.

For now, Salah continues to write his name into the fabric of Liverpool’s storied history.

With each goal, he climbs closer to becoming not just a modern icon, but arguably the greatest player to have ever worn the red shirt.
