Mohamed Salah has taken another step into Egypt’s football history, drawing level with some of the country’s greatest icons in a remarkable milestone list.
In Egypt’s clash with Senegal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, the Liverpool star played his 114th international match for the Pharaohs.
Ahmed Hassan still holds the national record with 184 caps, confirming his status as one of Egypt’s most enduring stars. Behind him comes current national team coach Hossam Hassan with 177 appearances, followed by legendary goalkeeper Essam El Hadary on 159. Ahmed Fathi (135), Ibrahim Hassan (131) and Hany Ramzy (122) also feature in this elite group.
Stats Foot highlighted that Wael Gomaa, the former Al Ahly and Egypt defender, now shares 114 caps with Salah. Salah stands out as the only active player on this exceptional list, still adding to his tally while chasing more records with Egypt. The piece notes that “Mo” is set for cap number 115 later tonight against Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations semi-final, underlining that his story with the national team is far from finished.
