Mohamed Ibrahim joins ZED on free transfer after leaving National Bank of Egypt

ZED have signed playmaker Mohamed Ibrahim on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract with National Bank of Egypt.

The Cairo-based club confirmed the deal during the summer transfer window, unveiling the 32-year-old under the slogan: “The magician has found his new destination.. Mohamed Ibrahim officially at ZED.”

Ibrahim became a free agent at the end of last season after his agreement with National Bank of Egypt came to a close, paving the way for his move without a transfer fee.

The move to ZED had been anticipated after FilGoal.com reported earlier that the former Egypt international had already signed his contract with the club.

Experienced playmaker on the move

Ibrahim came through the youth system at Zamalek, where he first made his name, before securing a move to Europe with Portuguese side Maritimo.

After returning to Egyptian football, he went on to represent Misr Lel Makkasa, Ceramica Cleopatra and most recently National Bank of Egypt.

Last season, Ibrahim made 30 appearances in all competitions, registering one assist.

Abu Qir Fertilizers had also submitted an offer to sign the attacking midfielder, but the player chose to accept ZED’s proposal instead.

ZED build squad for new season

ZED are currently holding an overseas training camp in Turkey as part of their preparations for the upcoming campaign for the first team.

The side has been coached by Mohamed Shawky since last season, with the former Egypt international overseeing their return to the top flight and subsequent consolidation.

The club have moved actively in the transfer market to strengthen their squad, completing agreements with French player Marouane Hajjaj from Swiss club Wil, Karim El Deeb from Al Ittihad Alexandria, and Mahmoud Okka from Haras El Hodood.

ZED finished last season second in the relegation group with 49 points, ensuring their Egyptian Premier League status.

The club are now gearing up to take part in the CAF Confederation Cup, with Ibrahim’s creativity expected to add depth and experience to their attacking options as they prepare for both domestic and continental campaigns.
