ASSE Coach Christophe Galtier Denies Interest in Mohamed Fofana
Despite reports linking Mohamed Fofana to AS Saint-Étienne as a potential defensive reinforcement, coach Christophe Galtier has firmly denied any interest in the Reims defender.
With Florentin Pogba ruled out for the season due to injury, Saint-Étienne is actively searching for a new center-back before the transfer window closes. However, Galtier dismissed the rumors reported by L’Équipe about Fofana, who has featured in just six Ligue 1 matches this season.
“It’s a priority to recruit a defender, but it’s not certain that we’ll succeed. Fofana is false information,” the ASSE coach stated at a press conference.
Saint-Étienne now faces a tight deadline, with the transfer window closing at midnight on Monday, to secure a suitable replacement at the heart of their defense.
