Al Ahly’s long-serving goalkeeper and captain, Mohamed El-Shenawy, has pledged his loyalty to the club by signing a fresh two-year contract extension.
The announcement came on the heels of Al Ahly’s triumphant Egyptian League title win, a moment that underlined the keeper’s continued influence and leadership.
Speaking on television after the Reds’ latest league success, El-Shenawy confirmed the renewal, solidifying his role between the posts as the club gears up for future challenges.
With his previous contract set to expire at the season’s end, the timing of the extension offers the club vital stability. El-Shenawy revealed he had never doubted Al Ahly’s title chances, even after the team’s exit in the African Champions League semi-final.
The captain credited his teammates for their strong response to criticism and requested sporting director Mohamed Youssef to allow the team to celebrate together at Al-Tech Stadium.
Looking ahead, El-Shenawy said their focus now shifts to pleasing fans at the FIFA Club World Cup. He also praised Imam Ashour’s standout season and hailed Ali Maaloul’s contributions.
