Renowned former Al Ahly star and Egyptian national team player, Mohamed Barakat, emphasized the need for caution among the national team players to evade undue excitement leading up to the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) set to be hosted in Ivory Coast.
Speaking on the ‘Al-Rimontada’ program on Al-Mehwar channel, Barakat remarked, “African teams are meticulously strategizing against the Pharaohs in the AFCON tournament.
We possess a robust national team that has clinched the title seven times.”
He continued, “Under the respected coaching of Roy Vitoria and the supervision of Hany Ramzy, a figure with extensive experience, we are well-prepared.”
Barakat conveyed insights from the national team’s camp, affirming, “The morale is high, and the players are determined to make an impact in the AFCON.”
“It is crucial for us to maintain focus, exhibit a positive spirit, and we hope to continue supporting our team, with luck favoring our players,” he added.
Stressing the significance of the group stage, Barakat mentioned, “The group stage is about accumulating points.
The journey becomes challenging thereafter.
We must approach the tournament gradually.”
He cautioned against becoming preoccupied with potential rivals in the knockout stages, urging the players to stay focused.
“We may need any of the 27 players in the squad,” he stated.
In conclusion, Mohamed Barakat advised, “We must avoid excessive enthusiasm during training sessions, which could lead to injuries.
It is imperative to maintain a positive spirit.”
As Egypt gears up for the AFCON, the guidance of experienced figures like Barakat adds a valuable perspective to the team’s preparations, setting the stage for a competitive tournament.
