Mohamed Barakat, former star of Al-Ahly Club and the Egyptian national team, affirmed that the Red Devils managed to clinch a valuable victory against Ghana’s Medeama in the match that brought them together in the CAF Champions League.
Speaking on the “El Rimontaada” program on Al-Mehwar channel, Mohamed Barakat stated, “There is great joy in Al-Ahly’s victory over Medeama and reaching the nine-point mark.
The match was tough due to the travel conditions, the pitch, and the weather.”
“We always trust in Al-Ahly and its players. Today’s match allowed them to take a step forward to the next round.
Therefore, we say congratulations to Al-Ahly fans on the win,” he added.
Barakat continued, “Marcel Koller, the head coach of Al-Ahly, learned lessons from the Medeama match and the trip to Ghana.
Al-Ahly did not seek excuses and succeeded in achieving victory today.”
“Al-Ahly has taken a step towards qualification for the next round by defeating Medeama, raising their points to 9, and they will succeed in qualifying directly if any team wins between Young Africans and CR Belouizdad,” he elaborated.
“Medeama is still in contention for qualification and still has hope in the next round, should the two teams draw in tomorrow’s match.
I believe that Al-Ahly and CR Belouizdad will advance to the next round,” Barakat added.
He concluded his statements by saying, “We hope that Al-Ahly will qualify at the top of that group, and that our fellow Arab team, CR Belouizdad, will be in second place.”
