Tunisian midfielder Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane has become the fourth player from his country to join Egyptian giants Al Ahly after completing a move to the club on Tuesday, June 3.
Al Ahly announced the signing of the midfielder today as he sealed a move from Hungarian side Ferencvarosi.
Before him, three Tunisians had played for Al Ahly in the past. He joins Boujelbene, Ali Maaloul, and Mohamed Dhaoui Christo as the four Tunisians to have signed for Al Ahly in the history of the club.
All three previous players were stars in Al-Ahly’s ranks. The Egyptian giants signed Boujelbene from Tunisian club CS Sfaxien on January 1, 2007, before his contract expired on January 1, 2009.
During his time in Egypt, Boujelbene won one Egyptian Cup 2006-07, 3 Egyptian League titles 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09, CAF Champions League 2007-08, Egyptian Super Cup 2008-09, CAF Super Cup 2006-07 with Al Ahly.
The second player, Mohamed El-Dawy Christo, played for Al-Ahly from January 5, 2023, until July 16, 2024.
Unlike Boujelben and Maaloul, he was signed from Etoile Sportive du Sahel. His time in Egypt was successful, although he did not play much. He helped Al Ahly to win two CAF Champions League titles, two Egyptian Premier League trophies, and two Egypt Cup titles as well.
The third player, Ali Maaloul, played for Al Ahly from July 25, 2016, until June 1, 2025, having also signed from Tunisian club CS Sfaxien.
He left the club as one of the most prominent and important players in Al Ahly’s history. Maaloul won 6 Egyptian League titles, 4 Egypt Cup titles, 5 Egyptian Super Cup titles, 4 CAF Champions League titles, and 2 CAF Super Cup titles during his time at Al Ahly.
Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of his compatriots by helping Al Ahly to win many trophies.
