Moein Chaabani, the Tunisian coach newly appointed to helm the Moroccan club Renaissance Berkane, has made the surprising decision to dismiss both Abdel Samad Rafik and Mohamed Aziz from the coaching staff immediately after the team’s recent match against Ittihad Tawergha, corresponding to the 18th round of the professional league.
In his first media appearance following his appointment as coach of the Berkane team, Chaabani stated, “I had my first meeting with the coaching staff and players.
I don’t even know their names, and I don’t have data on the league teams because I have worked in Tunisia and Egypt, and I did not pay much attention to Moroccan clubs.”
The Tunisian coach continued, “My contract with Renaissance Berkane came quickly, in less than three days.
We will try to work on all levels despite the limited time, as we play two matches a week and do not have time for proper preparation.
This requires us to double our efforts, and I will give my utmost to achieve positive results because I know the value of Renaissance Berkane and its fans.”
Regarding the incident of his altercation with a security guard in a previous match between Renaissance Berkane and Egypt’s Al Masry in the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, Chaabani affirmed, “I wanted to prevent my players from reaching the referee, and the security guard did not recognize me at the time.
It is not in my nature to behave poorly.
I wanted to protect the players from punishment, and what happened is in the past, and I respect everyone.”
Chaabani declined to comment on the set objectives with Renaissance Berkane, indicating that he would not make promises, concluding with, “I know the value of Renaissance Berkane well; it is an ambitious club. But I promise you that I will give my best.”
