Moatasem Al-Musrati: Libyan midfielder leaves Besiktas and becomes without a club

Libyan midfielder Moatasem Al-Musrati has left Besiktas and is now without a club after ending his time with the Turkish side on 30 August 2026.

The 30-year-old defensive midfielder departs Besiktas after a spell that included two loan moves away from the club. He spent the second half of the 2024-25 season at Monaco before returning to Turkey, and joined Hellas Verona on loan for the 2025-26 campaign. That loan ended on 30 June 2026, bringing him back to Besiktas before his departure was completed.

Al-Musrati originally joined Besiktas from Portuguese club Braga in July 2024 for €11m. He had first moved to the Turkish club on loan in February of that year, with Besiktas then making the transfer permanent several months later.

He leaves with honours from both Portugal and Turkey on his record. During his time at Braga, Al-Musrati won the Portuguese Cup in 2021 and the Portuguese League Cup in the 2023-24 season. At Besiktas, he was part of the squad that won the Turkish Cup in 2023-24 and the Turkish Super Cup in 2024-25.

Born in Misurata, Al-Musrati holds Libyan and Portuguese nationality. He stands 1.89m tall, is right-footed and operates primarily in defensive midfield. His earlier career in Portugal also included spells with Rio Ave, Vitoria Guimaraes and Braga, following his move from Libyan club Al-Ittihad.

Al-Musrati began his senior career at Al-Ittihad before moving to Portugal, where he developed through Guimaraes’ reserve side and later played for the club’s first team. He then joined Rio Ave on loan before establishing himself in the Portuguese top flight.

His departure from Besiktas follows a period in which his recent campaigns were interrupted by successive loans. He made his most significant mark at Braga, where his performances helped him collect domestic honours before his move to Turkey.

Al-Musrati, whose market value was listed at €4.5m at the time of his departure, has now completed his exit from Besiktas and is officially without a club.
