Mngqithi confident in Sundowns’ preparation ahead of Carling Knockout Cup final

Manqoba Carling Final 1024x717 1

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness as they prepare to face Magesi FC in the Carling Knockout Cup final on Saturday evening in Bloemfontein.

The Brazilians are seeking to cap off a strong campaign in the competition with a fifth Carling Knockout Cup title, having delivered commanding performances throughout their run.

ictories over Lamontville Golden Arrows, Kaizer Chiefs, and Marumo Gallants have set the stage for what promises to be an intense final clash.

Speaking during a press conference at Chloorkop on Wednesday, Mngqithi shared insights into the team’s mindset and preparation.

“In the absence of the best, I would say the preparations are going very well,” he remarked.

“We don’t have the whole squad in our matchday -3 training session because of their involvement in international activities.

With our group, the preparations have gone well. The players look eager and interested to participate in this important match, and I think everything is going according to plan.”

Mngqithi highlighted the importance of creating and capitalizing on scoring opportunities to secure victory.

“We have to create as many scoring chances as possible and get the ball in the net,” he insisted, emphasizing the need for precision and determination in front of goal.

A New Challenge Awaits

Saturday’s final brings a fresh challenge for Sundowns as they face Magesi FC, a team they have yet to encounter this season.

While Magesi may be considered underdogs, their recent form across competitions has not gone unnoticed by Mngqithi and his staff.

The Sundowns coach acknowledged the unpredictable nature of cup finals, stressing that his team must remain vigilant against a Magesi side that has proven capable of upsetting expectations.

Building Momentum

Mamelodi Sundowns have enjoyed a successful run in this year’s competition, characterized by decisive performances.

Their quarterfinal victory over Kaizer Chiefs was a standout moment, followed by a dominant display against Marumo Gallants in the semifinals in Bloemfontein.

The prospect of adding another trophy to their collection serves as motivation for Sundowns, whose focus remains firmly on maintaining their high standards.

With their blend of talent, depth, and tactical discipline, Mamelodi Sundowns head into Saturday’s final as clear favorites.

However, Mngqithi’s respect for Magesi FC underscores the importance of staying sharp and disciplined in pursuit of victory.

Kick-off at the Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium promises a thrilling conclusion to this year’s Carling Knockout Cup, as both teams aim to leave their mark on South African football history.
