Former Al Ahly star Ayman Shawky has responded to his remarks regarding Turki Al-Sheikh, the Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia, inviting the presidents of Al Ahly and Zamalek to attend the Egypt Cup final.
The Egypt Cup final is set to pit Al Ahly against their arch-rivals Zamalek at the “Al Oul Park” Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on March 8.
Reports circulated prior to the Al Ahly versus Baladiyat Al Mahalla match where Ayman Shawky commented on Turki Al-Sheikh’s invitation, saying, “Inviting the presidents of Al Ahly and Zamalek to attend the final? We, the joyous, invite who we want. I will not comment further on this invitation.”
During halftime of the Al Ahly versus Baladiyat Al Mahalla match, Ayman Shawky clarified his statements, saying, “There was a misunderstanding regarding my remarks about the invitation of the presidents of Al Ahly and Zamalek to attend the Egypt Cup final. Egypt and Saudi Arabia are one people and we are brothers.”
He added, “Egypt and Saudi Arabia are one people, we are brothers, and nothing can disrupt our bond. Saudi Arabia stands with Egypt in all aspects, activities, and challenging times. However, some fish in troubled waters.”
The former Al Ahly star concluded, “Of course, we appreciate the joy, and we would like to thank Saudi Arabia. We are all confident that we will witness a grand carnival between Al Ahly and Zamalek.”
