This morning, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, the Minister of Youth and Sports, met with Ibrahim Abdel Sabour Taha, known as “Shika,” the former left-back of Zamalek Club and the Army, who is battling cancer.
The meeting aimed to inquire about his health condition, with a medical committee appointed by the Minister present to monitor the player’s situation.
Minister Sobhi affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to cover all expenses related to Taha’s treatment.
Earlier, the Minister had tasked a specialized medical committee, consisting of Dr. Magdi Fouad Zakaria, Dr. Raafat Abdel Fattah, Dr. Sherif Abdel Wahab, and Dr. Magdy Mahmoud, to closely follow up on the player’s condition until he receives proper treatment and fully recovers, with the Ministry of Youth and Sports undertaking the entire cost of his treatment.
Former Zamalek player Taha began his football career in the youth teams of Zamalek Club.
Born in 1997, “Shika” displayed exceptional technical skills, earning him comparisons to Zamalek’s captain, Mahmoud Abdel Razek “Shikabala.”
Taha’s battle with cancer has garnered widespread sympathy from the football community, with the Ministry of Youth and Sports stepping in to ensure he receives the necessary medical care without any financial burden.
