Mikel Arteta agrees improved Arsenal contract, BBC reports

Arsenal have agreed an improved contract with manager Mikel Arteta, according to the BBC.

The Spaniard’s existing deal was due to expire at the end of the season, with negotiations over an extension continuing for several months.

Arteta, 44, has been in charge of Arsenal since 2019 and led the club to their first Premier League title in 22 years last season. The achievement ended a run of three consecutive runners-up finishes.

Arsenal co-chair Josh Kroenke said in May that securing Arteta’s future was the club’s priority following the title success.

Arteta has also reaffirmed his commitment to Arsenal this year amid speculation about his position at the club.

The Gunners have begun their title defence strongly, winning their first four league matches before losing 3-0 to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
