Ahmed Hossam “Mido,” the former star of Zamalek and Egyptian football, has commented on Egypt’s qualification for the Round of 16 in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

He urged the Egyptian people to set aside their affiliations, whether to Ahly or Zamalek, during the upcoming stages of the tournament, marking the beginning of the Pharaohs’ journey in the knockout rounds of the African Cup of Nations.

In televised statements, Ahmed Hossam “Mido” said, “I want to send a message to the Egyptian fans on social media, for our sake, put Ahly and Zamalek aside and support the Egyptian national team.”

Mido continued, “There are many people trying to blame Mohamed El-Shenawy for the poor results in the group stage, and some are targeting Imam Ashour to make him perform poorly, or for Ahmed Sayed Zizo not to show his best.”

He concluded his remarks, saying, “We have qualified for the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Do not believe anyone who tells you that players are not affected by criticism.

We must support the players in the tournament, even those who make mistakes.”
