Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi is facing doubts about his ability to partner with teammate Victor Osimhen at Galatasaray, according to former player and analyst Sinan Engin.
Engin, who played most of his career at Beşiktaş, stated that the two forwards do not seem to get along on the field.
Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has favored a two-striker formation since Osimhen’s arrival, typically pairing him with Mauro Icardi.
However, with Icardi currently sidelined due to injury, Buruk opted to field Batshuayi alongside Osimhen during Thursday’s UEFA Europa League match against AZ Alkmaar, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Osimhen managed to find the net in that match, but questions remain about the effectiveness of this partnership.
“Victor Osimhen is the only one left in Galatasaray after Mauro Icardi, he can’t get along with Michy Batshuayi. Mauro Icardi was the right partner for Osimhen. Icardi knows how to play. They are good chances for each other,” Engin said on Haber Sari Kirmizi.
“Now, to bring the ball to Osimhen, you will either put Mertens next to Osimhen or make the midfield crowded. Okan Buruk’s bench is not very rich either. 2-3 players left, it is down to 15-16 players.”
Batshuayi has recently claimed superiority over Osimhen in terms of technical skills, leaving fans uncertain about how their collaboration will unfold moving forward.
