Michel-Ange Balikwisha linked with Bundesliga club SV Elversberg after Celtic debut season

Michel-Ange Balikwisha, the DR Congo and Belgium-nationality winger at Celtic, has been linked with a move to SV Elversberg in Germany’s Bundesliga.

The 25-year-old joined Celtic from Royal Antwerp in August 2025 and has a contract with the Scottish club until 30 June 2030. No transfer fee or probability has been attached to the reported interest in the left winger.

Balikwisha was part of the Celtic side that won the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup in the 2025-26 season. However, he has yet to feature for the club during the early stages of the current campaign.

He has made no appearances in either of Celtic’s two possible Scottish Premiership matches or their League Cup fixture so far. That limited involvement comes after he arrived from Antwerp, where he had won the Belgian league, Belgian Cup and Belgian Super Cup.

Balikwisha began his senior career at Standard Liege before moving to Antwerp in 2021. Celtic subsequently signed him for €5.2m, with his market value now listed at €3m.

The player’s established contract means any move to Elversberg would require an agreement between the clubs rather than a free transfer. The reported link remains at the rumour stage, with Balikwisha still a Celtic player and yet to make an appearance for the club in the 2026-27 season.
