Former Scotland international Michael Stewart has urged Rangers to remain cautious about Nigerian striker Cyril Dessers’ recent upturn in form, warning the club against being misled by his performances.
Despite speculation surrounding his future, Dessers has made a positive impact in both domestic and European competitions.
However, Stewart believes Rangers should not be swayed by his recent displays.
“If I were Rangers, I’d be pleased with Dessers’ recent performances, but I’d work to ease his departure,” Stewart said.
“Unfortunately, he’s not up to par. Colak, in my opinion, was a more complete forward than Dessers. Selling Dessers could recoup some of the money invested.”
Stewart further emphasized his concerns, stating: “Don’t be fooled into thinking there’s potential there. We’ve seen enough.”
While Dessers has contributed valuable goals, the debate over his long-term suitability for Rangers remains open, with Stewart advocating for a pragmatic approach from the club.
