MERCATO: YOHANN THURAM TOWARDS THE ENGLISH D2
Yohann Thuram-Ulien, facing a lack of playing time at Standard de Liège, is reportedly set for a move during the winter transfer window. The French goalkeeper, confined to the sidelines, is expected to make use of the opportunity to seek a change of scenery.
According to France Football, the cousin of former French international Lilian Thuram is likely to make a move to England this January. The 25-year-old goalkeeper is anticipated to join Charlton, a club in the English Championship. Having played only three matches since the start of the season, Thuram-Ulien, hailing from Guadeloupe, has expressed the desire to be loaned out to secure more playing time, a request reportedly granted by the leaders of Standard de Liège. The loan to the Championship club is said to be without an option to buy.
Since his arrival from Troyes in the summer, Yohann Thuram-Ulien has struggled to establish himself in the Standard Liège squad. The French goalkeeper is under contract with Les Rouches until 2017.
