Having had an outstanding season with Newcastle, Papiss Cissé has attracted attention from major European teams. While initial rumors suggested a move to Germany, with Dortmund expressing interest, the Senegalese striker might find himself in Russia next season. According to reports from English media, Anzhi, the Russian club featuring Samuel Eto’o, is considering Cissé.
The Sun reports that Anzhi is prepared to offer 18 million euros for the Senegalese striker. A source close to Newcastle mentioned, “Newcastle will sell if there is an offer at the right price, so the Russians will have to make an effort and offer a lot more than they are prepared to put in.” The source added, “If the Russians added 12 million to the transaction, discussions could then begin.”
Papiss Cissé, who arrived at Newcastle from Fribourg, is currently under contract with the Magpies for the next four years.
