2026/26 Saudi Pro League awards

Édouard Mendy has edged out Yassine Bounou to win the Saudi Roshn League Golden Glove award following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.

The Saudi league campaign officially ended on Thursday with Al Nassr FC crowned champions for the first time in seven years, finishing ahead of rivals Al Hilal SFC.

Mendy and Bono Finished Level in Key Statistics

The race for the Golden Glove proved extremely close between the two African goalkeepers.

Both Mendy and Bono recorded 14 clean sheets during the season after playing 26 league matches each for Al Ahli Saudi FC and Al Hilal SFC, respectively.

The pair also finished with the exact same number of saves, making 46 stops each across the campaign, averaging nearly two saves per match.

Mendy additionally saved one penalty during the season.

Goals Conceded Made the Difference

Despite the identical clean sheet and save numbers, the Senegalese goalkeeper ultimately secured the award due to a superior goals conceded record.

Mendy allowed just 18 goals throughout the season, while Bono conceded 20, giving the Al Ahli star the decisive edge in the final rankings.

Rivalry Between Africa’s Top Goalkeepers Continues

The competition between the two goalkeepers has become one of African football’s most talked-about rivalries in recent years.

Their battle intensified during the Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco earlier this year, where Bono finished ahead of Mendy to claim the tournament’s Golden Glove award.

The latest Roshn League outcome now sees Mendy respond by taking home the top individual goalkeeping honour in Saudi Arabia.
