Sporting Director of Olympique Marseille, Medhi Benatia, has disclosed that the club is getting busy in the summer transfer window.
According to him, the club is making a push to sign any top player’s whose contract is expiring at the end of the 2024/25 football season.
This comes after Olympique Marseille were linked with a move to sign Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich last week.
Asked whether this is true, Medhi Benatia refused to comment but stressed that if a top player is becoming a free agent this summer then Marseille will make a move to try and sign that player.
“We’ve tried all the top players with expiring contracts. We’re monitoring the market and looking at the possibilities – that’s our job. I won’t name any names, it’s still too early for that,” the former Morocco national team captain told BeIN SPORTS.
It is understood that although Marseille contacted Sane, he rejected immediately. He wants to extend his contract with Bayern Munich although talks are at a standstill over salary disagreement.
