Medeama Coach Acknowledges Defeat to Young Africans in CAF Champions League

In a candid post-match reflection, Medeama coach Evans Augustine Adotey conceded that his team fell short of expectations during a decisive CAF Champions League encounter, resulting in a humbling 3-0 defeat against Young Africans.

The Yellow and Mauves, unable to withstand the onslaught, succumbed to the Tanzanian champions at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Ivory Coast midfielder Pacôme Zouzoua set the tone with a first-half goal, followed by Kennedy Musonda and Mudathir Yahya adding to the tally in the second half.

Despite the disappointing outcome, Adotey expressed determination as Medeama faces formidable opponents Al Ahly and CR Belouizdad in the remaining group stage matches.

“Our ambition to take three points today failed. We still have two matches left, and we will assess the situation,” remarked the Ghanaian coach in a statement to the media.

“We will fight for the remaining six points. The Young Africans deserved the victory, but we could have avoided conceding three goals.”

Adotey’s tenure as the head coach of the Ghanaian champions has concluded, with plans for him to resume his role as technical director.

The team anticipates the appointment of a new coach in the coming days.

The defeat serves as a pivotal moment for Medeama, prompting a strategic evaluation of their performance and a renewed commitment to navigating the challenges posed by upcoming matches.

As the team looks ahead, the focus remains on securing vital points and regaining momentum in the fiercely competitive CAF Champions League.
