Supporters of MC Alger will be banned from attending the upcoming Ligue 1 Mobilis match against Entente Sétifienne (ESS) on Sunday. The decision, made by the Wali (governor) of Sétif, follows a recommendation from local security services.
It comes as a preventive measure after violent incidents marred last season’s fixture when a large number of MCA fans attended the game at the 8-May 45 stadium.
Despite regulations limiting away fans to just 10% of the stadium’s capacity, MCA supporters were given significantly more tickets, leading to clashes between rival fan groups.
The ban on MCA fans at the match is a response to these disturbances, aiming to avoid a repeat of the unrest.
This is not the first time visiting supporters have been excluded from matches in Algeria; similar restrictions have been imposed on MCA fans traveling to Constantine for past encounters with the local team.
