Algerian club Mouloudia d’Alger (MCA) has issued an official statement expressing outrage over the recent arrests of several fans in Rwanda.

The detentions occurred after MCA’s match against Al Hilal in the CAF Champions League. The club firmly rejects any form of inhumane treatment towards its supporters, pointing to violence after the encounter and their prolonged stay in police stations for three days.

MCA stresses that neither the club’s sporting company nor its current players have commented on the situation, but they are closely monitoring all developments. The club calls on Algerian authorities to intervene swiftly to guarantee the protection of citizens abroad, arguing the matter goes beyond sports and concerns the safety and rights of Algerian fans, who represent the nation during international competitions.

The club repeats its total condemnation of these “inhuman” actions, noting they run counter to the values of fraternity and fair play that should be present in international sporting events. MCA’s supporters are renowned for their loyalty and dignity, always aiming to elevate the national flag and encourage the team, with no intentions of provocation.

The statement concludes with a call for vigilance and solidarity, emphasizing the importance of protecting supporters and ensuring their safe return home. MCA remains committed to defending its fans’ rights and dignity so that such incidents never happen again.
