Mbark Boussoufa Poised for Return to Anderlecht on Loan from Lokomotiv Moscow
Moroccan international Mbark Boussoufa is reportedly close to returning to the Jupiler Pro League, with his former club Anderlecht expressing strong interest in re-signing the midfielder. The reigning Belgian champions are aiming to bolster their squad ahead of the new season, and Boussoufa is seen as a key addition.
According to Russian newspaper Sport-Express, cited by Belgian broadcaster RTBF, Anderlecht has made contact with Boussoufa’s representatives, with Lokomotiv Moscow reportedly open to a loan deal. A permanent transfer remains unlikely due to the high transfer fee and salary demands associated with the 29-year-old.
Boussoufa, who spent five successful years at Anderlecht between 2006 and 2011, has been a standout player for the club, making over 200 appearances. During his time at Anderlecht, he won two league titles (2007, 2010), a Belgian Cup (2008), and two Super Cups (2007, 2010), earning himself two Golden Boot awards. He left the Belgian club to join Russian side Anzhi before moving to Lokomotiv Moscow last year for €14 million.
Anderlecht has been searching for a left-sided midfielder capable of making an immediate impact, and the return of Boussoufa could fill that void perfectly. With his familiarity with the club and experience in the Belgian league, the Moroccan star could quickly reintegrate and provide valuable creative spark to the squad in the coming season.
