Former Real Madrid general manager and striker, Pedja Mijatovic, has suggested that the club might consider selling Vinicius Junior during the summer transfer window.
His comments come amid growing speculation about the Brazilian’s future, particularly as Kylian Mbappe continues to dominate the spotlight at the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to Mijatovic, the club could afford to part ways with the winger given the current situation.
Vinicius Junior, who has Cameroonian heritage, remains one of Real Madrid’s most talented attackers.
However, his recent performances have been overshadowed by Mbappe’s remarkable form, prompting discussions about whether the club should cash in on him.
Reports indicate that Vinicius has agreed to a new three-year contract extension with Los Blancos, running until 2030, but he has yet to officially sign the deal.
Speaking on the Spanish radio show El Larguero, Mijatovic remarked, “I don’t know Vinicius personally, but I’m told he’s an excellent guy and a great person. But you know how it is at Real Madrid. If you perform and do everything right, you stay, and if not, they sell you, let you go, or whatever…
“Has Vinicius made more enemies than a footballer deserves, and not just outside of Real Madrid?
“Yes, I agree with you. I understand that fans of opposing teams see you as a player who makes a difference and hate you.
“But I also think that Vinicius has provoked this opinion against him, and a little outside of football. And not just among opposing fans, there are quite a few Real Madrid fans who think ‘what’s wrong with this kid?’ And that needs to be said, it shouldn’t be hidden. Why can’t you say something like that?”
