Mathieu Dossevi Victim of Carjacking After Disastrous Weekend for Valenciennes
Mathieu Dossevi endured a harrowing Sunday night following Valenciennes’ crushing 6-2 loss to Nantes, a defeat that all but sealed the club’s relegation from Ligue 1. The Franco-Togolese striker was the victim of a violent carjacking just hours after the match.
According to La Voix du Nord, the incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. when Dossevi and his brother were preparing to go out in a Maserati. As they approached their vehicle, an Audi pulled up in front of them. Two hooded men emerged from the Audi, spraying the brothers with tear gas before forcing them out of the Maserati and fleeing with the car.
The regional newspaper reported that the authorities have since opened an investigation into the incident. It has been a nightmare weekend for Dossevi, who now faces not only the emotional toll of relegation but also the shock of the carjacking.
