Matar Thiam: Aris Thessaloniki sign Senegal defender on free transfer

Aris Thessaloniki have completed the signing of Senegalese defender Matar Thiam on a free transfer.

The 18-year-old moves to the Greek Super League 1 side from his previous club, with the deal registered on 6 July 2026 for the 2026-27 season. The transfer was completed without a fee and Thiam joins Aris as a permanent addition to their defensive options.

Thiam, born on 21 April 2008, arrives in Thessaloniki as a young defender with Senegalese nationality. He is listed primarily as a defender, giving Aris extra depth at the back as they shape their squad for the new campaign in Greeces top flight.

The move places Thiam into a Super League 1 environment at a relatively early stage of his senior career. His switch to Aris marks a step into a prominent European league, offering him the platform to develop further in a competitive setting.
