Hundreds of supporters of RS Berkane took to the streets to celebrate their CAF Confederation Cup success over Simba SC.
Berkane etched their name into the history books after clinching their third CAF Confederation Cup title.
The Orange Boys emerged as champions of the 2024/25 campaign after holding Simba SC to a 1-1 draw in the second leg tie on Sunday at the Amaan Stadium, completing a 3-1 aggregate win.
The Moroccan club now joins Tunisian side CS Sfaxien as the record winners of the Confederation Cup, with three titles each. The cub secured their first Confederation Cup title in 2020 before clinching it for the second time in 2022.
The city’s residents celebrated in the streets, chanting the names of the players who contributed to the historic achievement, as Berkane became the first Moroccan club to win the Confederation Cup three times.
Berkane succeeded in combining the league and Confederation Cup titles for the first time in its history.
Amidst this atmosphere, the club’s board of directors received a congratulatory telegram from King Mohammed VI to the players and technical staff on this achievement.
Morocco has now solidified their position as the most successful country in the CAF Confederation Cup following RS Berkane’s latest triumph.
With seven titles from five different clubs, Morocco remains the most successful country in CAF Confederation Cup history.
The North African countries have dominated the Confederation Cup in the last seven seasons, winning all titles. Meanwhile, the last sub-Saharan winner was TP Mazembe in 2017.
