MAS Fes bring in Mozambique-Portugal right-back Diogo Calila from Santa Clara

Mozambique and Portugal defender Diogo Calila has joined Moroccan club MAS Fes from Santa Clara for €86,000, completing a move from Portugal’s Liga Portugal to the Botola Pro Inwi.

The 27-year-old right-back arrives after starting all four of Santa Clara’s league matches this season. He played 99% of the available minutes and provided one assist, contributing to 20% of the Portuguese side’s goals during that run.

Calila offers experience in a defensive position and is naturally right-footed. Born in Seixal, Portugal, he stands 1.80m tall and is eligible to represent both Mozambique and Portugal.

His move brings an end to his time with Santa Clara, where he was part of the team that won the Portuguese second-tier championship in 2024. That success secured the club’s return to the top level of Portuguese football and forms the most significant team honour of Calila’s senior career.

Calila’s arrival gives MAS Fes a defender with recent top-flight experience, having featured in each of Santa Clara’s opening four Liga Portugal fixtures before switching countries. His record in those matches included one assist, with no bookings or dismissals recorded.

The transfer fee of €86,000 is below Calila’s current estimated market value of €500,000. His highest recorded market value has been €1m.

Calila joins MAS Fes on 3 September 2026, becoming part of the Moroccan club’s squad for the Botola Pro Inwi campaign. The move also represents a change of league and country for the defender, who has spent his recent football in Portugal.

With his position listed as right-back, Calila is expected to provide defensive depth and an option on the flank for MAS Fes. His recent run of starts means he arrives having been involved regularly at club level rather than moving without competitive appearances.
