Marvin Spielmann: Former Young Boys winger joins FC Kappel on free transfer

Swiss midfielder Marvin Spielmann has joined FC Kappel on a free transfer from FC Aarburg, completing a move on 6 July 2026.

The 30-year-old left-sided midfielder, who holds both Swiss and DR Congo nationality, arrives at the Swiss club after a season with Aarburg, having previously spent much of his career in the countrys professional tiers. The transfer involves no fee and begins a new chapter for the right-footed winger, who stands at 1.80m and is listed primarily as a left midfielder.

Spielmanns switch to Kappel follows a brief spell at Aarburg that started in September 2025, when he signed for the club after several months without a team. Before that, his most recent professional stop was with FC Baden 1897, where he moved in February 2024 following a period as a free agent in the 202324 season.

His top-flight experience was built earlier in his career with BSC Young Boys and FC Lausanne-Sport, after a standout rise at FC Thun between 2017 and 2019. During his time at Thun his estimated market value climbed sharply, peaking at 5 million in 2019, before he earned a move to Young Boys ahead of the 201920 campaign.

Spielmanns value gradually declined over subsequent seasons as he moved from Young Boys to Lausanne-Sport in January 2022 and later spent a loan spell at Neuchatel Xamax in 2023. That sequence culminated in a contract expiry at Lausanne-Sport in September 2023 and two stints without a club between 2023 and 2025.

The Olten-born midfielder, who came through the youth ranks at FC Aarau after an early loan at Baden, now continues his career in Swiss football with FC Kappel.
