Marumo Gallants add Seketso and Moletshe ahead of Betway Premiership opener

Marumo Gallants have strengthened their midfield with the signings of former Polokwane City player Moremi Seketso and ex-TS Galaxy midfielder Onke Moletshe, Soccer Laduma can reveal.

The two players have been training with Gallants for an extended period but only completed their moves on Thursday, according to a source at the club. Their additions come shortly before Gallants begin their Betway Premiership campaign against Kruger United on Tuesday evening.

The source said the club had initially assumed Seketso and Moletshe had already formalised their transfers because they had been involved in training for “a very long time”.

“They’ve been training with us for a very long time and we thought they already signed. So we were surprised when (Marumo official) Rufus Matsena came through on Thursday for those players to sign,” said a source.

Seketso previously played for Polokwane City, while Moletshe was formerly on the books of TS Galaxy. Their arrival gives Marumo further midfield options as the club prepares for the start of its league campaign.

Gallants have also promoted a player from their DStv Diski Challenge side into the senior squad. Nqobani Gabela was present when the first-team contracts were signed and is now officially part of the senior group.

“They are now officially a part of the squad, including another young boy from our DDC (DStv Diski Challenge) team. He’s called Nqobani (Gabela) and he’s now with the first team. He was also there to sign the first team contract.”

The club was contacted for a response to the report but did not provide comment.

The latest additions follow a major recruitment drive by Marumo Gallants, who recently announced the arrival of 14 new players. The list includes Thato Mohlamme, Thulani Zandamela, Thabang Sesinyi, Thokozani Lukhele, Prince Manku, Mlungisi Sikakane, Thato Pheeha, Patrick Motsoeneng, Khomotso Marebane, Samkelo Sihlali, Thabiso Mkhwanazi, Onalenna Lepelesana, Lebogang Button and Emile Lako.

Gallants will now turn their attention to their opening Betway Premiership fixture against Kruger United on Tuesday evening, with Seketso, Moletshe and Gabela having joined the squad shortly before the campaign gets under way.
