Marseille have officially submitted a bid to sign Morocco international Nayef Aguerd from West Ham United in the ongoing transfer window.
The French giants are keen on bolstering their squad following their return to the UEFA Champions league next season, with Aguerd emerging as a top priority for the club’s defensive overhaul this summer.
Marseille are wasting no time as they look to reshape their squad ahead of a return to the UEFA Champions League next season.
And as part of the club’s recruitment strategy, Nayef Aguerd, who is expected to leave West Ham United this window, has emerged as a top transfer target.
Aguerd, who has 51 caps for Morocco, spent the second half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Real Sociedad, making 36 appearances across all competitions.
Meanwhile, the Spanish outfit are reportedly keen to sign the Moroccan on a permanent deal, but face strong competition from Marseille.
The Moroccan centre-back is understood to be attracted by the club’s project under Roberto De Zerbi and the chance to feature in the Champions League.
Other clubs remain in the race. Bayer Leverkusen and Atlético de Madrid have also shown interest in the 29-year-old, while West Ham – with whom Aguerd is still under contract until 2027 – will ultimately decide whether to sanction a transfer.
