The trip to Sochaux last Saturday was a memorable one for Olympique de Marseille, but not for the reasons they hoped. Greeted with dissatisfaction and insults from their own supporters, José Anigo’s squad faced a hostile reception. This Friday evening, as they gear up for the advanced match of the 32nd day of Ligue 1 against Ajaccio at the Vélodrome, OM players may once again encounter jeers from the stands.
Midfielder Alaixys Romao acknowledges the fans’ discontent, understanding their frustration with the team’s underwhelming performance. “Supporters have every right to express their unhappiness. It’s understandable. They had high expectations from us. When you play for OM, the aim is always to compete for the top spots. Unfortunately, we haven’t met those expectations, which has led to disappointment,” said the Togolese international.
Facing Ajaccio, a team playing without pressure as they have nothing to lose, Romao emphasizes the importance of Marseille adopting a similar mindset. “We need to enjoy ourselves, play freely, and win this match,” he added.
The match is scheduled to kick off on Friday at 7:30 p.m. (UT).
