Marseille reportedly reach agreement with Issa Soumare

The Olympique de Marseille are reported to have reached a full agreement with Issa Soumare, potentially paving the way for the Senegalese forward to leave Stade Rennais.

According to specialist account ZONE 90, Marseille have secured the player’s approval as they explore a move for the former Le Havre AC attacker. The reported agreement represents an important first step, although the clubs have yet to settle the terms of any transfer.

Soumare joined Stade Rennais after his spell with Le Havre AC but could now be set for another change of club. He is understood to be open to a new challenge, while Rennes are reportedly willing to allow him to leave.

The interest from Marseille would give Soumare the opportunity to continue his development at one of France’s leading clubs. A move to the Mediterranean side would also represent a significant progression from his time with Le Havre AC, where he played in the club’s sky-blue and navy colours.

Marseille must now negotiate with Rennes

Having apparently obtained the player’s agreement, Marseille are expected to begin discussions with Stade Rennais. The priority for the club is to reach an agreement with the Breton side over the conditions of the proposed transfer.

The amount Rennes would demand for Soumare, and whether the two clubs can conclude negotiations quickly, remain unknown. No agreement has been officially confirmed between the two teams.

For the moment, the reported understanding is limited to Marseille and the player. The next stage of the process will depend on whether the French clubs can find common ground over the deal.

A move to Olympique de Marseille would give Soumare another important opportunity in his career. After representing Le Havre AC and then joining Stade Rennais, the forward could soon discover a new environment at a club with significant ambitions in French football.

The report from ZONE 90 has added fresh momentum to the transfer story, but the possibility of Soumare appearing in Marseille’s colours in the coming weeks remains dependent on an agreement between the clubs.

Stade Rennais are also due to play their fourth match of the league phase of the UEFA Europa League against Olympiakos.
