Olympique Marseille will not be triggering the purchase option on Algerian midfielder Ismaël Bennacer after loan spell.
The 27-year-old joined the French giants during the January transfer window on loan with a purchase option from Italian giants AC Milan.
Bennacer initially impressed at the club, showcasing glimpses of good performance on his debut against Angers. He struggled at the beginning of the season in Italy, missing 20 matches at Milan due to a muscle tear.
He made 12 appearances in the French Ligue 1, providing two assists after arriving at the club in January.
According to reports, Marseille have ruled out triggering their option to purchase Ismaël Bennacer from AC Milan, but are keen to negotiate a new loan for the midfielder.
Previous reports have suggested that Marseille were reluctant to bring Bennacer back on his current terms, as he is thought to be one of the higher earners in the squad. However, perhaps a new deal would open the way for the Ligue 1 runners-up.
His current contract with AC Milan is expected to run out in the summer of 2027.
