Marseille part ways with Senegalese tactician Habib Beye after short spell in charge
French giants Olympique de Marseille have announced the departure of Senegalese coach Habib Beye following a brief stint with the club.
Both parties had agreed to end their collaboration only a few months after Beye took charge of the coaching staff.
The former Senegal international leaves Marseille after overseeing 13 matches in all competitions, recording six victories, two draws and five defeats during his time at the club.
Beye arrived at Marseille with high expectations due to his growing reputation as a coach and his strong connection with French football. However, inconsistent performances and mixed results ultimately led to the club deciding to move in a different direction ahead of the new season.
Despite moments of promise during his tenure, Marseille struggled to maintain consistency under the Senegalese tactician. The team showed flashes of improvement in certain matches but failed to establish the momentum needed to satisfy the club’s ambitions.
The departure represents another major turning point for Marseille as the club continues restructuring both on and off the pitch. Club officials are now expected to intensify the search for a new head coach capable of leading the team back into contention domestically and in European competitions.
For Habib Beye, the exit marks the end of a challenging chapter in his coaching career, but the former defender remains highly respected within French football circles. His leadership qualities and tactical approach have continued to attract attention despite the short-lived spell at Marseille.
Beye enjoyed a distinguished playing career, representing clubs in France and England while also becoming one of Senegal’s most recognised internationals during his generation.
Attention will now turn to what comes next for both Marseille and the Senegalese coach as preparations begin for the upcoming football season.
