Wolverhampton Wanderers eye French-Ivorian defender Yllan Okou for future move

Wolverhampton Wanderers could revisit their interest in La Louviere defender Yllan Okou when the January transfer window opens, after monitoring the Frenchman during the summer.

The 23-year-old was scouted by Wolves in mid-August, with the club also holding discussions with the player’s representatives over a possible move.

However, the Championship side’s interest did not progress before the transfer deadline after they failed to sell players in the same position.

Wolves monitored defender in Belgium

Okou has impressed since joining Belgian side La Louviere, attracting interest from several clubs across Europe.

Despite the growing attention, the former AS Monaco academy player opted to remain in Belgium for the time being.

According to reports, Wolves were among the clubs keeping a close eye on the defender and had explored the possibility of bringing him to England.

The move failed to materialise during the summer window, but Wolves could return for the Frenchman in January should their interest remain.

European clubs also tracking Okou

Wolves are not the only club to have shown an interest in Okou.

The defender received an offer from Turkish side Amedspor, while clubs from Eastern Europe have also made approaches.

Teams in the Swiss Super League are monitoring his situation, with an unnamed La Liga club also reported to have scouted the former Monaco player.

For now, Okou remains focused on La Louviere, where his performances continue to enhance his reputation and attract attention from clubs across Europe.

A strong season in Belgium could further increase competition for his signature when the transfer market reopens.
