Nicolas N’Koulou’s potential move to Naples has been a subject of speculation for some time, but it appears that the deal is now off the table for the Cameroonian defender.
Vincent Labrune, Marseille’s president, revealed that OM even turned down an offer for N’Koulou from Naples in mid-December, which exceeded 12 million euros. Labrune emphasized, “There is little chance of him leaving. Afterward, we don’t know anything! What can I tell you other than the fact that we refused an offer in mid-December, and that Nicolas reiterated several times that he wanted to stay at the club,” he told RMC in January.
In an interview with footmercato.com last week, Thierry Cros, RMC Sport’s Italian correspondent, shed light on Napoli’s transfer priorities. According to Cros, N’Koulou has never been Napoli’s top priority for a central defender. The club has been primarily focused on Liverpool’s Martin Skrtel. As of January, the interest in N’Koulou has diminished.
