Belgium international of Ivory Coast descent Johan Bakayoko has emerged as a transfer target for French Ligue 1 giants Olympique Marseille.
Bakayoko delivered an outstanding performance in the recently concluded campaign for Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven. He scored 9 goals and provided an assist in 30 appearances, contributing to the club’s success in the Dutch Eredivisie.
His impressive performance did not go unnoticed, attracting significant interest from several club’s including Marseille, who are keen on securing his services this summer.
Marseille are in the market for a winger this summer following the departure of Luis Henrique (23) to Internazionale Milan. However, the club has yet to make great strides in finding a replacement for the Brazilian.
The French giants has not progressed much with their interest in Bakayoko, with other interested clubs believed to have made more concrete moves for the winger.
Bakayoko’s current contract with the Dutch champions expires in 2026, perhaps there is an onus on PSV to sell this summer to avoid losing him for free.
The 22-yearold joined PSV in summer 2022 and has since established himself as a key member of the team.
Since switching allegiance to Belgium, the enterprising winger has made 18 appearances and scoring a goal in the process.
