Marseille eye Ghanaian teenage sensation Samuel Amissah ahead of summer window
Olympique de Marseille have expressed interest in Ghanaian teenage sensation Samuel Amissah ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old centre-back, currently with Fulham FC, is attracting attention from several European clubs as his contract with the London club is expected to elapse at the end of the season.
Despite not having yet made his professional debut for Fulham, Amissah has been on the radar of several prominent teams, including Ajax, Juventus, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea FC, who are reportedly monitoring his development closely.
Amissah made his first appearance on the Fulham bench in December 2024 during a 1-1 draw at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, signaling the club’s recognition of his potential. The England Under-19 international has been a standout in Fulham’s under-21 squad, starting all 20 matches he played this season and showing maturity well beyond his years.
A move to Marseille could mirror the transfer of CJ Egan-Riley, who joined the French club on a free transfer last summer. Egan-Riley has quickly made an impact in Ligue 1, appearing 14 times this season (682 minutes) and netting his first goal in the Coupe de France against Bayeux in a 9-0 victory.
For Marseille, signing Amissah represents a chance to secure a highly rated young defender on the brink of breaking into senior football, while offering the teenager the opportunity to gain top-flight experience in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
With the summer window approaching and multiple clubs circling, the coming months could be decisive for Amissah’s career trajectory, potentially setting the stage for the next generation of English defensive talent to make its mark abroad.
