Marseille enquire about Krepin Diatta as European interest grows

Krepin Diatta is attracting attention from a number of European clubs after becoming one of the most closely followed free agents of the summer transfer window.

The Senegal international, 27, reached the end of his contract with AS Monaco on 30 June 2026 and is now considering his next move. His experience and ability to operate in different positions have made him an attractive option for several clubs, with Crystal Palace reportedly among the leading contenders to sign him.

According to Foot Mercato, Olympique de Marseille have recently made enquiries about Diatta’s situation. The Ligue 1 club are interested in his profile, although any formal move is understood to depend on developments within Marseille’s squad during the remainder of the transfer window.

Diatta is not short of suitors. German club Schalke 04 and English sides Everton and Ipswich Town are also monitoring the player’s availability. Based in Senegal, Diatta is taking time to assess the proposals before deciding which project best matches his sporting ambitions.

The winger spent five seasons with AS Monaco, making 143 appearances for the club. During that period, he scored eight goals and provided seven assists, while also featuring in several European campaigns.

His international experience has further strengthened his appeal. Diatta represented Senegal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup. The market value of the “Lion of Teranga” is estimated at €6m.

Diatta was earning an annual salary of €3m, equivalent to 1.95bn CFA francs, during his time at Monaco. His status as a free agent means interested clubs would not have to pay a transfer fee, although his wages and the terms of a new contract would still form part of negotiations.

For Marseille, the situation could depend on how their squad changes before the start of the new campaign. The club are due to begin their French league season against Strasbourg, a fixture that will come before the transfer window closes and could influence their recruitment priorities.
