Badou Zaki is making a return to coaching! The former coach of WAC Casablanca has been appointed as the coach of the Atlas Lions of Morocco.
The Moroccan football federation opted for the local talent of Zaki over other notable candidates like Dick Advocaat and Giovanni Trapattoni.
Zaki will be officially presented as the coach on Friday, according to information from the sports desk at afrik.com.
This marks Zaki’s second stint as the coach of the Moroccan national team, having previously held the position from 2002 to 2006, during which he achieved mixed results including a silver medal at the 2004 African Cup of Nations.
At 55 years old, Zaki embarks on a new challenge and faces the daunting task of leading Mehdi Benatia and his teammates in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted by Morocco.
