Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush fined £408 over McLaren insurance offences in England
Egyptian striker Omar Marmoush has been fined by a court in England over offences involving insurance for his luxury McLaren sports car and failure to report that the vehicle had been taken out of service.
According to the BBC, Teesside Magistrates’ Court sentenced the 27-year-old on October 5, imposing a £220 fine, £100 in court costs and a further £88 contribution to the Victim Support Fund.
The case relates to a McLaren 720S valued at approximately £250,000. On June 17, the British Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) issued Marmoush with a fixed penalty after discovering that the vehicle was uninsured and had not been declared off the road.
How the case reached court
After Marmoush failed to pay the original fine, the DVLA pursued legal action against him.
The agency reportedly attempted to contact the player at his former apartment in Manchester city centre, where he lived before moving to London.
The case was handled under England’s Single Justice Procedure, which allows certain criminal cases to be decided without a traditional public court hearing.
Court documents indicated that Marmoush did not submit a response or enter a guilty or not-guilty plea to the allegations in the paperwork sent to him.
Legal case coincides with Tottenham move
The case comes amid Marmoush’s reported move to Tottenham Hotspur on loan from Manchester City at the end of August.
According to details provided in the report, the London club has committed to purchasing the Egyptian forward for £60 million at the end of the season.
Marmoush joined Manchester City in January 2025 and scored 10 goals for the club. He has also been included in Egypt’s national team squad for the 2026 World Cup.
