Marie Ngah Manga keeps Cameroon on course at Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026

Cameroon moved significantly closer to the quarter-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026 with a second successive victory, beating Ghana 1-0 in Casablanca on Sunday.

The Indomitable Lionesses secured the result at Stade Moulay Rachid in Morocco in their second Group D match. Having opened their campaign with a 2-1 win over Mali earlier in the week, Cameroon maintained their perfect start to the tournament and strengthened their position at the top of the group.

Marie Ngah Manga once again proved decisive for the Central African side. The forward scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot in the 19th minute, repeating her influence from the opening match against Mali.

Ngah Manga had scored twice in that victory and now has three goals in the competition. Her latest effort was enough to settle a close contest and give Cameroon another valuable three points.

Ghana appeared to have found an equaliser in the 79th minute, but the goal was ruled out after a review by the video assistant referee. The decision denied the Ghanaians a late route back into the match and preserved Cameroon’s narrow advantage.

The victory means the players managed by Dimitri Lipoff move above Ghana and into first place in the Group D standings. Cameroon now have a three-point advantage over the team in second place.

A draw against Cape Verde in their final group match on 6 August will be enough to confirm Cameroon’s place in the quarter-finals. The result against Ghana therefore leaves the Indomitable Lionesses in a strong position, with qualification now within their control.

Cameroon’s campaign has so far been shaped by narrow wins and the finishing of Ngah Manga. They overcame Mali by a single goal in their first appearance before producing another one-goal victory against Ghana.

The Group D leaders will now turn their attention to Cape Verde, knowing that they do not need to win to progress. A point in that match would officially secure their place in the last eight of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026.
