Marcos Evangelista de Morais known as Cafu backs Mohamed Salah for Ballon d’Or glory
Brazilian football legend Cafu has heaped praise on Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah, describing him as one of the best players in the world and backing him as a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or.
In an exclusive interview with Al-Masry Al-Youm, the former AC Milan and Brazil captain lauded Salah’s impact at Liverpool and his consistent performances at the highest level.
I see Mohamed Salah as one of the best players in the world today, and what he is doing with Liverpool is amazing,” Cafu said.
The two-time World Cup winner highlighted Salah’s qualities, emphasizing his goal-scoring prowess and team-first mentality.
He is an exceptional player, talented, plays for the team, knows how to score goals, and is always perfectly positioned.
He is a world star in football, and I hope he is crowned the best player in the world,” he added. “From my point of view, he is already the best today.
Cafu also discussed the upcoming Ballon d’Or race, naming Salah as a key contender.
This season’s Ballon d’Or will be in safe hands, between Raphinha and Mohamed Salah.
I’m sure one of these two players will win the Ballon d’Or, given what they’ve done, what Salah has done for a long time, and what Raphinha has done during this period.
As a Brazilian, it’s natural for me to lean towards Raphinha, because he’s Brazilian, but as a fan of world football, I think Salah has been shining for a long time and has a great chance of winning the Ballon d’Or already.”
Cafu, widely regarded as one of the greatest right-backs in football history, captained Brazil to their 2002 World Cup triumph and enjoyed a decorated club career, most notably with AC Milan.
Known for his leadership and consistency, he remains a respected voice in the footballing world.
