Marcel Koller, the Swiss head coach of Al Ahly’s first football team, has shed light on the reasons behind his team’s draw against CR Belouizdad of Algeria in the fourth round of the group stage of the African Champions League.
During the press conference, Koller stated: “The league was suspended for more than a month and a half, during which we did not play any official matches.
Additionally, the absence of international players meant that this was the first match where all players gathered after a month and a half of absence.
We noticed that CR Belouizdad maintained their level of play, having participated in league matches recently.
On the other hand, we entered today’s match with several absences.”
He continued: “I believe that drawing against CR Belouizdad and securing a point is positive.
We aim to build on this result before the match against Medeama, as we must win and secure all three points.”
Al Ahly is scheduled to play against Medeama SC of Ghana next Friday evening in a match that falls under the fifth round of the group stage of the African Champions League.
